The address is the first difference
Beacons puts you at beacons.ai/yourname. We put you at yourname.tapmy.link — a subdomain, so your name is read first. It is a small thing you will say out loud a few hundred times: in a bio, on a podcast, on a card.
Neither address is yours the way a custom domain is. Beacons sells one on its paid plans; we do not offer custom domains at all. If owning the name matters today, that alone is a reason to stay.
What each product is actually built for
Beacons is not a link page with features bolted on. It is a business platform for creators — a storefront for digital products, a media kit for brand deals, email and SMS campaigns, AI writing tools — and the link page is the front door to all of it. If you sell things, that stack behind one login earns its keep.
Their paid tiers are generally where the store, the email marketing, the media kit and the higher-tier creator tools live. We will not quote numbers that go stale; their pricing page has today’s figures.
We built one thing. A page: links with a note, a badge or a card image, social rows with real brand marks for about thirty-five platforms, messenger buttons, embeds for YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud and TikTok, and text headings. Up to eighty blocks, dragged into order and each one hideable, across ten templates you can switch freely.
Pages are assembled on the server: there is almost no JavaScript, and they open even with scripts disabled. Uploaded images are re-encoded to AVIF against a byte budget and EXIF is stripped. The editor itself is translated into twenty languages.
What moving costs
Setup costs about five minutes. Paste the URL of your public Beacons page and we read it, then show the links we found for you to tick. An Instagram handle fills in the photo, name and bio.
The history is the part that hurts. Analytics never transfer between services, so ours start at zero: page views and unique visitors over seven and thirty days, counted with no cookie, which is why our public pages need no cookie banner. A link that goes through a redirect — one you gave a short path of its own, or one that sends iPhone and Android to their own stores — has its taps counted there, under the same rules and with the same 90-day retention; a link that still points straight at its destination is not counted at all.
And the honest caveat: Beacons is an established company with years of product behind it; we are much younger and much smaller. Keep the old page while you decide. Data here exports as JSON, and deleting the account really deletes it.
