When to run a second page, and when not to
A second page is cheap to make and expensive to keep. The cost is not money; it is the attention of whoever has to remember which address is which.
How it works
In the dashboard, «Sites» lists every page you own, each on its own subdomain, each with its own template, links, language and statistics. You add one with an address and a template, and you switch between them from the header without logging out of anything. There is no ceiling: make as many as you actually need.
Pages share nothing except the account. Deleting one does not touch the others, and an image uploaded on one is not visible on another. That separation is the point: a second page is a second place, not a second tab.
- A different audience: a personal page and a studio page that never share a visitor.
- A different language: one page in your language and one in your customers’, each declaring its own.
- A project with its own name: a book, a festival, a band, anything that outlives your bio.
- A place you print: a page for the menu card in a restaurant, separate from the restaurant’s main page.
Reasons that look good and are not
- Testing a design. Switching a template on your real page loses nothing; a test page becomes a second page nobody maintains.
- Separating campaigns. That is what short paths and campaign tags are for, on one page that keeps its audience.
- Hoarding names. A name you claim and never publish is a name nobody finds, and it stays parked after you delete it.
- One page per link. A link page exists to be the single address; splitting it defeats the only thing it does.
What the second page costs
Every page you own is a page that can go stale, and a stale page with your name on it is worse than no page at all. Two addresses also mean two things to say out loud, two QR codes to keep track of, and a moment of doubt for anyone who remembers only one of them.
The honest test: can you name, right now, who opens the second page and what they do next? If the answer takes more than a sentence, the content probably belongs on the first page as a block.
